I am writing to complain about the conduct of two assistants, Khadiza Akter Mukta and Jubaida Jahan Simi, at Universal Medical College and Hospital. This was one of the worst patient care experiences I have ever had. My mother is 85 years old and uses a wheelchair. Our appointment was scheduled for 5:30 PM, and we arrived at 5:00 PM. Although the doctor’s visiting hours were from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, the doctor did not arrive until around 6:25 PM. When I booked the appointment over the phone, the staff member assured me that my mother would not have to wait long because of her age and that if I informed the assistants, they would prioritize her as a wheelchair patient. Following that advice, I politely spoke with Mukta and Simi and requested that my mother be allowed to see the doctor earlier due to her age and physical condition. They assured me that she would be called after two or three patients. Unfortunately, that promise was not kept. By 8:00 PM, approximately eight or nine patients had been seen before us, while my 85-year-old mother continued to wait in her wheelchair. What disappointed me even more was their attitude. They showed no empathy, compassion, or concern for my mother’s condition. When I finally told them that I was taking my mother home because she could no longer sit and wait, the only response I received was, “Up to you.” This level of patient care is unacceptable. Elderly and vulnerable patients deserve compassion, respect, and professional treatment. I sincerely hope the management of Universal Medical College and Hospital investigates this incident and takes appropriate action to ensure that no other patient has to go through a similar experience. I am very disappointed with the patient care and the poor management of doctors’ availability at Universal Medical College and Hospital. The main problem I am observing is that doctors are often unavailable because they are seeing patients in chambers at the same time they are also in the OT. As a result, patients have to wait for hours, sometimes endlessly, just to see a doctor. Even after that, when doctors prescribe diagnostic tests, patients often have to wait another two hours or more because the diagnostic doctor is not available. This kind of delay is extremely frustrating and unacceptable, especially for patients who are already unwell and for their attendants who are forced to wait without any clear information or support. I hope the hospital management will investigate this issue seriously and take immediate steps to improve doctor availability and coordination between chambers, OT, and diagnostic services so that patients do not have to suffer unnecessary delays. I am extremely disappointed with the overall service at Universal Medical College and Hospital. This has been one of the worst healthcare experiences I have ever had. We arrived at 5:00 PM for an Internal Medicine appointment, and it is now 10:15 PM. The endless waiting, poor coordination, and lack of respect for patients’ time are simply unacceptable. I was also deeply upset by the behavior of a staff member in the Echo and Color Doppler room, whose name I believe is Farzana. She spoke to me in a very rude manner, even raising her hand while talking. When my 85-year-old father politely called her to ask something, she completely ignored him. No elderly patient deserves to be treated this way. The hospital management must take these issues seriously. Patients deserve timely care, professionalism, and basic respect—not hours of waiting and discourteous behavior.

I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this hospital, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. The management is abysmal, with miscommunication rampant throughout the facility. Patients and their relatives are left in a state of frustration and confusion due to the sheer incompetence of the staff. The waiting room is cramped, stuffy, and without air conditioning, making it unbearable for anyone waiting for hours on end. It's unacceptable for such an expensive hospital to have such insufficient facilities. Moreover, the lack of washrooms for visitors is appalling, and the few available ones have limited facilities. It's clear that the comfort and well-being of patients and their families are not a priority here. I urge anyone considering this hospital to think twice and explore other options. Avoid this place at all costs unless you enjoy unnecessary stress and disappointment.
